Monstera adansonii: Swiss cheese plant, Adanson’s monstera, five holes plant.
A species of flowering plant from family Araceae which is widespread across much of South America and Central America. Known for its heart-shaped leaves that contain large oval-shape fenestrations, which lead to its common name of “swiss cheese plant”. Not to be confused with Monstera deliciosa Swiss cheese plant which is why scientific names matter!! Popular as a houseplant it prefers to climb but will also trail. Easy to care for and propagate, likes bright indirect sunlight and soil with good drainage.
This friend came into my home when we moved a little over a year ago as a $12 grocery store plant in a 4” nursery round. Now it hangs on the corner of my four-post bed and takes up half the canopy rails on both sides. I hope it likes its new macrame home and doesn’t mind being shaken when the whole bed starts rocking violently a few times a week.
fun fact about me is that when i was a kid id write capital E’s with as many of those little horizontal lines as possible and id call them ladder E’s and adults fucking hated them

humpback B’s and P’s get as many bumps as you think they need
circle O’s, you just keep spiraling in til you feel like you’ve made your point
tree letters branch into smaller versions of themselves ad nauseum: X, Y
spider Q’s, so many legs
